Clutch kit for 850

I think it is time for a clutch change on my 1955 Ford 850. The tractor doesn"t begin to move until I have lifted the clutch pedal almost all the way up, and then it is real sensitive. I have used it for 8 years this way and it seems to be getting worse. Is it a clutch change I need, or is something out of adjustment (I have adjusted the pedal free play according to the manual)?

Either way, I have to split the tractor, so I might as well change the clutch because it is likely the original. What company does this website buy the clutch kits from? My dealer quoted $350.00 for a kit from Hy-Capacity, so I would like to get it from this site for ~$150.00.

Yep, sounds like you need a new clutch. JimUT replaced the clutch in his 850 a year or so ago and he posted photos of the job. Maybe he still has them. $150 is the going price for a 9" Single Stage clutch kit. $350 is getting close to the price of a rebuilt Dual Stage clutch for the 860.

Here ya go. This was my first split, so there was some trial and error going on. Be sure to look at all photos and read all captions before you start so you can eliminate the mistakes rather than duplicate them.

Just got to go through the pics. Excellant step by step with re-do's. Very informative. I really appreciate your extra time in taking photo's and posting progressive steps. Will definately make the job easier.

I got a clutch kit from Fort wayne clutch for 130.00.both bearings and an alignment tool.9 inch.Same parts were used in pre 46 Ford cars and light trucks.
