i just bought a 1972 ford 4000 with a bush hog loader. it is plumbed thru the remote valvue under the seat. it operates way to slow. is there another way to hook up the hydraulics with out going thru the remote. thanks, david

if i had wanted to add another pump i would have asked that question. what i want to know is there another way to hook up the hydrulic pump already on the tractor to get more speed on the loader.

You can use a tapping manifold and power beyond capable valve and leave your remote valve free for other purposes. But you will still have a slow loader.

Now you can bark at me for not giving a magical answer to your real problem. Your hydraulic pump is too small.

thanks rickb, that is what i am looking for. now i need to know what a tapping manifold and power beyond capable valve are and where they go. also where to buy them. thanks, david

A tapping manifold can be purchased from any TISCO or New Holland dealer. A power beyond capable loader control valve can be bought from any hydraulics supply house such as Baum, Surplus center, Northern Supply, etc. But you will still have a slow loader.

ok does your 4000 have flow control? you asked how to make your loader faster. tractor pump is about a third volume wise compared to most loader front pumps that is why I said a stinger pump is the way to go. tractor hyds three point and remotes if equipped with FC both will be slower if it is turned down.

The simple answer is "NO!" the internal hydraulics on that tractor do not produce enough flow to operate a loader any way but slow!

You have been given good, consistent advice about your onboard hydraulics being insufficient for a loader. Tapping or power beyond block can be purchased from this site and looks like the one below.
And just to add to the chorus, you will not be happy with that combination and would be much wiser to bite the bullet and install a front pump.
Good luck

i guess i'll have to keep a slow loader, but at least now i will have a remote for other things. thanks, david

It could be worse Knifer! My brother has a 5000 with a Ford 772 loader on it! The loader is operated through the tractor remotes (no valve of its own). Yes, it IS SLOW, but it gets the job done! We HAVE talked about a front pump and reservoir, but have not decided that it would be worth it to add them!
