860 rumbling in radiator

after i turn off my 860, i get a rumbling noise from the radiator for a few seconds. i bought this tractor in pieces, haven"t really used it much. anyone think it"s a head gasket, like i do? tractor runs great. no smoke , no wet exhaust. thanks for the help.

If it has run long enough to be good and warm then probably normal as the coolant is hot and will some times make a little noise right after being shut down. Of course this is going on the fact that I figure you have enough in the system and it is not low on coolant

Nothing to worry about, mine does that, just keep a watch on water level and bubbles whilst engine running... may be trapped air or?. you will know if it is a head gasket.

Do you let your tractor idle for a bit before you shut it down? A little boiling isn't unusual when you shut down a hot engine.

if it's not using coolant, or getting emulsion in the oil.. i'd also think it's heat soak... that engine will boil some coolant when the circulation stops..

My 861 does this especially if it's a bit low on coolant. Too much coolant and I get a small amount of spray out of the overflow tube- not too fun cause it blows in my face. Just keep an eye on the coolant level.

My 641 was doing the same thing since I bought it this last spring. It never used water, but would act like it was low on coolant when it was shutoff. This fall it would steam out the exhaust when it was first started and the tractor was warm.

Turns out the head gasket was blown between #2&3 cylinders.
