i have a two wire generator f and g where does the a wire go from the regulator to the generator.the ford dealer told me i have the right generator for this tractor.

There should be a larger stud on the rear endplate of the gen marked A for Armature. A large wire runs from this stud to the Armature terminal on the regulator. The wire on the small stud marked F goes to the Field terminal on the regulator. The wire on the small stud marked G goes to one of the hold down screws that attaches the regulator to the steering column for a Ground.

(quoted from post at 11:25:40 01/01/10) If the dealer said you have the correct gen. maybe ask them for a copy of their diagram.

en, it can not work without an ARM terminal, as that is the generator's output. NOW, if you really only have 2 terminals, they are very likely FIELD and ARMATURE, without a Ground terminal (rely on mounting bolts). What that says to me is the it is not the factory original generator for your tractor. Now, that doesn't mean it can't be made to work, but for most of us to provide assistance we need to know what the generator is. Any numbers, ID, photos, etc. may be helpful, or if you can find a 'real' generator repair shop (that isn't Auto Zone, O'Really's, CarQuest, etc.) they might ID it for you & even tell you if it works, & what specific regulator you need to use with it.

i think you are right i have a generator shop in town been their before. ill take the generator case with me today and have them look at it again ill let you know what happen when i get back

the generator is a delco 2 terminal one wire field and one armature the case is ground. the generator and starter shop here told me some are 2 and some others are 3 terminal it will still work out ok for me.i thought i had the wrong generator thanks ken

ather than a stud terminal, some Delco units had a tapped hole in the barrel for a screw to attach a ground wire.
