3000 Split / Hyd Pump Removal ?

Planning on splitting the Mighty 3000 for a clutch replacement. I have the IT Manual and the Ford Manual and still have questions about the hyd pump removal. I have the one mounted at the top left side of the bell housing area. How hard is this to remove? My book says disconnect and remove. Is this necessary? Will it just unbolt and stay out of the way? I would really like to not remove it as it may induce leaks and problems but will if it is required. Just trying to get some info from those who have gone before.....

Thanks in advance.

It is simple to remove, I think there are 3 bolts hodling it on and 3 or 4 bolts holding on the hydraulic lines. Get a gasket for the pump and possibly new o-rings for the hydraulic lines. I guess you might be able to leave it on if you can remove the hydraulic lines on the back with it still mounted, but it's really not a big deal to take it off.

Easiest way is to go ahead and remove the lines from the pump and then the pump from the tractor. Don't see how you could remove that upper, left tranny bolt with the pump in the way. Plan on needing a new gasket between pump and block. Probably not a gasket you want to make yourself as the thickness adjusts the gear mesh between the cam gear and pump gear.
Ford made 2 different pumps depending on year. Older ones had a manifold with 3 bolts that attached to the pump. Newer style had a flare fitting on pressure side and slip-in tube on the suction side. I would replace seals in older manifold style. On newer style I have had good results washing the suction tube and inlet with a rag and lacquor thinner then applying a VERY LIGHT amount of silicone to tube before inserting.

Thanks guys. It will probably be a few weeks before I go at it. I want the weather to warm up a little bit before I start it. Any way, I am planning on buying the clutch assembly from this site and will add the seals you all mentioned. BTW, it is a later model 3000 with the "plug in" return line and flared pressure line.
