I have an 851 with a bad hyd. pump. The only place I can find one is FORD. They want 2500.00. The tractor isnt worth much more than that. Has anyone had this problem? Are there any other options other than a new one? I cant seem to find a rebuild kit for the pump. Also, how do I dterminie if I have the vein, or piston type? Thanks in advance. Rob

The vein pump has a square body and the piston pump has a round body. It should be a piston pump on that tractor and kits are available from this site. There is a special tool required to replace some parts in the pump so you may need to see a dealer.I don"t know were you looked for a kit but nobody could tell you if the kit is available without knowing which pump you have.

This very site sells a repair kit for a piston pump for $34.90. And and 851 should have come from the factory with a piston pump. Unless you had somthhing major go wrong, I doubt very much if you need a complete pump. A new shaft and a new gear are also available here

Rob:

If, as is almost certain, your 861 has the piston (round) pump, you can rebuild it for considerably less than $100 in parts.

If, as is highly unlikely, it has the vane (square) pump, it can be converted to the piston type for considerably less than $500 in used parts.

You also need to find another dealer.

We bought our 850 used and dealer was supposed to make everything right.Hyd. pum didnt work right. Dealer changed pump from vane tpe to piston type and have had no troube since.

OK, the tractor isnt here at the moment, but I can see the "round" pump in my head. What about the manifold looking aluminum part below it? The pump is the "round" object above it that kinda looks like a starter? Im sorry if these are dumb questions. Thanks again. Rob
