860 water pump replacement

I will soon be replacing the water pump on my 860 and was wondering if that will require me to pull the radiator?

Also, is it recommended to used just the gasket or some form of sealant along with the gasket?

Thanks,

Paul;

You should not have to pull the radiator. With the fan shroud and fan in place it be difficult to work around. I would remove the fan and then the pump. The work area will be cramped.

I happen to have an 860 with the hood off at the present time. I went out and looked and its looks to me it should be no problem taking it out the generator side. You might have to take the fan off first. I dont think the hood would make enough difference to change my mind.

Just the WP alone is removed. Not that big of a deal, but you will probably have to cuss and use bandaids as the space is tight. Pressure wash the tractor 2-3 times to get it real clean and that will help you a lot.

Ok, thanks for the info guys!

Anybody have a suggestion in regard to using just the regular gasket or possibly some type of additional sealant?

Sometimes I put a little on the water pump side of the gasket to help hold it in place, but it comes apart easier the next time if you dont put it on the engine side.
