4000 casting code deciphering

I recently found my uncles 1968 Ford 4000 (which I spent a lot of time behind) and wanted to obtain some information about it's manufacturing history.
The current owner bolted a home made battery box over the tranny section that has the serial #, and build date codes etc so i cannot get them but on the rearend is this code:

N 14 2 68
C5NN 4024 Y

I figure the bottom number is the tranny part # but the top number is probably the date code. Can some one decipher it? Is it November 14 2nd shift 1968??
Thanks

That code doesn't follow any of Ford's date code systems that I have ever seen. Is N 14 2 68 stamped into the casting with hand stamps or was it cast into the housing? If it was cast into the housing then it would precede the date the tractor was assembled by a few months. In either case I sincerely doubt that it translates to Nov 14 1968. My guess would be Feb 14 1968.
If you really want to know the date the tractor was assembled you need to remove the homemade battery tray and find the assembly date code in the transmission housing. Here's a website that will help you.
