Does anyone know where on the engine I could find the ID tag? Or done these engines have one. I need to order some parts, and the rocker assembly shown in both the parts and service book, are not what my tractor has. The book shows screws with locking nuts for the valve adjustments. My engine has hollow screws with no lock nuts. It is a gas engine. Any help is appreciated. Rob

If you look on the left side where the starter bolts into the bellhousing & under the oil bath aircleaner , you"ll see a flat area . That"s where the ID is located . Its stamped into the casting very lightly so do not use any grinder or harsh abrasive to strip the paint . Use some paint stripper & sandpaper or wire brush . HTH! Post back . Also if you go to John Smiths website , he shows where to look . God bless, Ken

To ID the block, look under the distributor on the right side. There should be a RAISED casting string of letters/numbers, some of which will be 6015. The prefix and suffix will help us narrow down your block BUT, a LOT of things 'happen'/change with these engines/tractors over the decades so don't be suprised to learn that the head may not be original to the block or that somebody didn't just swap out the rocker assembly. MANY, MANY of the engine parts swap between the 172CID and the 134CID.

ps.......sorry..if it is a '58-59, the block SHOULD read 310609. XXXX6015X was typical before AND after those 2 years.
