Transmission stopped pulling ao I cheched the fluid level and it was low of fluid so I filled it up. fired it back up and still would not move in any gear. Dont know why I did it but I lifted the inching petal straight up and it engaged. If you realese the petal normally it will not move but lifting it straight up it does. Does anyone know what may be the problem.

There is a spring attached to the inching pedal likage under the top cover to pull the pedal back up. Maybe your spring broke.

Steve,

Does the pedal return to the normal position when not depressed? As Awhtx indicates, there is a spring that should return it to the up position and actuate a valve. Your description leads me to believe the pedal was functioning properly and you were lifting [u:15f0735136]past[/u:15f0735136] the normal postion to engage the transmission.

Either way you need to get a shop manual so you can get inside the transmission housing to fix your problem. From your description it sounds like a spring and/or linkage problem and nothing major. I've got the manual that covers hundred series and x01 tractors through 1960. On page 230 there are two figures, 95 and 97 that give a view of the return spring.

I'm still learning on these tractors, but you should try and figure out if you have a DDC[/color:15f0735136] or ORC[/color:15f0735136] tranny. I don't think it would make a difference on this, but it would be good to know. The earlier trannys had a filter that you could replace while you are in there, but I believe it was discontinued before your tractor was built. Not a big deal pulling the top plate and working on the linkage, biggest challenge is getting the PTO cable and shift cable removed and returned to proper adjustment, just takes some fiddling. Larry will be along soon and is one of the best with these trannys. Good luck and let us know what you find.

The petal returns to its correct position on its own. It does not move so you have to pull it straight up to make it engage

Steve:

Your 2000 will have the later DDC S-O-S unless it has been changed. It will also have a filter beneath the top cover.

As the others have said, check the inching pedal return spring.

DO NOT attempt to remove the top cover to access the return spring (or anything else) without first getting a proper manual and reading and understanding the sections relating to top cover removal and installation.

When did you last change the transmission oil and filter?

Dean

Ive only had the tractor about 4 months and havent ran it much. My Uncle owned it and when he Died my aunt gave it to me. I havent Changed the filter or fluids
