851 L/641 LS

What do the numbers identify in these two tractors model numbers?
The first is the transmission? the second is PTO?
the third is ? What about the L and LS?
thanks

If I rememebr right, the L means it is (or was originally, anyway) LP fueled. The S would mean it came with a Sherman auxillary transmission, probably an over/under. The middle number denotes which transmission and PTO combination it has... x4x means 4-speed, non-live pto, x5x means 5-speed, non-live pto.An x6x would have the 5-speed with live pto.

Clint;

The "L" designates an LP gas engine. The "LS" would be a LP gas engine with a Sherman transmission. See the below site for more info on Ford Tractors.
