851 everett trencher

I have an 851 serial# 3814. My Dad rescued it from my Grandfather's (father in law) barn. It had no 3 point, which didn't jive with the 851 model number, so I assume that one of the original owners removed the lift cover and hydraulic pump. He scrounged many parts so we could do some haying etc. My question is how rare is the everett trencher? I saw a rare total setup with digging wheel once on the internet, but do not know how prevalent the tranny's are. The poor old girl was painted turquoise without fenders, grill or hydraulic pump, so you know what my dad went through finding functional parts. We got it going and it runs like a top. I'm in the process of making it look like it should, but the trencher transmission is a mystery. Any info would be helpful.

The Everetts ARE a bit 'uncommon' but, certainly not rare (or useful) enough to make them terribly valuable. I've bought about a dozen thru the years and still have 5 now.

They're a 98:1 gear reduction and almost bullet proof so putting them into a 4 speed with a Sherman that has a high range will allow a tractor to run a good sized rototiller without having to use the Howard Gear Reduction.

Auburn also made a 'trencher' trans very similar in nature but it was hydraulicly driven and reduction adjustment went from off/standard to about the 100:1 with unlimited speed selection in between. Now, THOSE are rare!
