Ford 3000 Valve Adjustment Questions

I am wanting to adjust the valves in my tractor the next time I have it down for maintenance. However, I am a bit confused on the timing marks. It is a Ford 3000 Diesel and my IT Manual is not very specific regarding the marks and I want to be absolutely certain I am at TDC before any adjustments are made. I do not see any marks on the crankshaft pulley - should there be? I have read about the 19 degree BTDC mark on the right lower side of the engine back by the transmission. Is this the mark to use? I wish the IT manual was much more specific but it is not.

Thanks in advance for the help.

All that you have to do is remove valve cover and bump the engine over with the starter untill one valve is up all the way(closed) and the valve next to it is down all the way(open). Do this for each cyl. and mark each one that you do with a paint pen so you know which ones you have done. Good Luck.

Bill"s way is zacly like I do it on any engine ,,, takes the guess work out of it,,, yes takes a little longer but it will B rite
