'63 4000 combo transmission?

Hi, The serial number on my Ford tractor ends in "S". So in order to rebuild the motor and check the transmission,I split the tractor just after the transmission? Took a couple photos...does the sherman operate by pulling the lever out ?.... or just back and forth...Glen

From neutral the direct or conventional gear is out and back.

If you want to rebuild the engine, trans (or sherman) you have to split at the engine AND the differential (where you showed it). The Sherman replaces the standard input shaft with a smaller 3 range transmission. 50% under, 1:1 and 50% overdrive.
