860 carb rebuild

I'm going to totally rebuild my 860 carb and it's a Marvin-Schebler TSX 580 which is supposed to fit a 134" motor and mine is a 172" according to the tractor serial #. Can that be right or did someone put the wrong carb on before me? I bought a manifold gasket for a 172" and the stud holes were a little bit short. Any help would be appreciated.

That TSX # along with several more were used on both engines in the 600 and 800 series tractors.I believe the intake and the carb were larger on later 861 tractors.

Yeah thanks, after reading some more I kinda was leaning that way. When I ordered the gaskets I should have specified the carb number instead of the engine size. So other than the carb all other engine parts should be bought by engine size, correct? Thanks for the reply, now I'll be able to sleep tonight.

You should make sure you ordered the correct rebuild kit for your carb. The TSX 500 series carbs all use the same kit but the TSX 600, 700 and 800 series carbs use a different kit. I'm not sure as to their difference(s). Although there is very little difference between the carbs one of the major diiferences was the stud spacing as you discovered. When ordering parts for the engine the year and displacement if needed. Hope this helps you.
