OK lets start by saying im not a certified mechanic. I need someone to explain to me how to isolate which part or parts maybe the problem. Im sure its getting gas. the ignition switch is very sloppy so I ordered another and also replaced the battiery. Its a 6 volt positive ground. It will turn over fairly fast and thats it. No start condition. Ford 2000 Select-o-Speed, 1963 Model. Any help would greatly be appriciated. Thanks in Advance

You need 4 things for a gas motor to run.

Gas
Air
Compression
Spark at the correct time

Since you are sure you have gas we will assume you have the first 3 listed.

So that leaves us with spark at the correct time.
Take the dist cap off and rotate the motor till the points are wide open. Now with the key on check for power at the wire connection on the points.

If you do not have power here you will need to back track the system to find the break.
Remove the wire that goes from the coil to the dist and check for power at the other small wire.
Keep back tracking; terminal block; key switch; till you find power and let us know what that point is.

By the way I am not a certified mechanic either so do not let that deter you.

If your engine is in good mechanical shaoe it has to have three things to run. 1. fuel 2. spark 3. air

Check to see if there is spark first. Remove a plug wire and gap it about 1/2 an inch against the side of the engine. Crank it with the switch on. You should have a nice fat blue spark. If not check points and condensor. If those aren't the culprit you'll need further in diagnostics of the ignition system.

If it has good spark check next for fuel. Shoot a little either in the air intake, crank it and find out if it'll pop. If so you've got fuel problems.

If you eliminate these two, which are the most likely, check to make sure you've got good air supply.

If none of these fix it, you've got more major problems.

Might be the switch if you haven"t changed it yet

You need to check the ignition wiring for power and continuity

Make sure there is power to the points inside the dist if not follow the wiring back to the problem

Tools might include test light, volt meter to test DC current

She's turning over.. that's good.

slip the air cleaner off to make sure she has air.

check for fuel at the bottom of the carb.

jumper power from battery to incoming primary post on coil..

check for spark

if no spark.. check that points are opening and closing and gap is .025.. and then maybee clean them with a brown piece of paper pulled thru the contacts.. that usually gets them unless they are burned and pitted badly.
