I have a 1963 Ford 2000 w/select-o-speed transmission. I just aquired it from a deceised uncle. When you try to start it by turning the key it does nothing. It almost feels like an on and off switch. like it needs a push button. I want to keep it original. It has a 6 volt positive ground system. Any clues as to what i should look at first.

If you will look under the right side of the rear cowl you will see a chrome button about 5/8 inch in diameter. It will be pointing down. Press on this button and you should start.

Please be careful starting it for the first time. There is a safety switch under the top cover of the SOS that only allows the starter relay to function when the trans is in P but someone may have disconnected it and it could start in any gear. Have someone sitting in the seat of the tractor with the selector in P and the inching pedal depressed when you make the first attempt to start. Once you have it up and running then you can confirm that all safety features are functioning.
