860 GAS 6V Generator

I took the geny and voltage regulator into shop today for test/repair. The growling noise was worn bushings. The voltage regulator was bad. The brushes are still good and the geny is putting out.Had to order voltage regulator from Seattle. Have to use my 2n with 6' backblade to plow snow till 860 is running again. 2N did a great job, as I just finished plowing my yard driveway out and neighbors drive.

If ya need the 860, you can just charge the battery and run the genny with a jimmied-up rig of a 194 bulb in the field line to power, and the armature line run to the battery connection wire that went to the reg... low rpm will likely show discharge.. high rpms should show ok charge rate... just remember to pull armature wire at shutoff as well as 'field' tickler..

I forgot to mention that the armature will need replaced. It got overly hot and fried solder. They had a good used one in stock for it.
