Ford made wood splitter

has anyone seen a Ford made wood splitter? it's the strangest splitter i've ever seen. it's got a 5 hp b&s on it running a belt that drives a small "snowmachine" clutch, that in turn drives a belt that powers a driveshaft that is under the box tube for the ram. that in turn powers a chain that turns a large screw which acts as the ram forpushing the log into a splitter wedge at the top of the tube, similar to a typical hydro splitter. this thing wasn't used much and came from a barn of a deceased neighbor, no info there. It definetly has ford colors and badges all over it, but can't seem to find any others out there. anyone else seen on work? or at least seen one?

worked at ford dealer years ago they had them this was in 80 to 85 never thought they looked like much then probably dont look much better now

is that when they were made you think? I finally found the most remote piece of info. an adver. on ebay I think, anyways it looked very similar and the advert. looked to be from the 50-60's

I'm looking for cluch ingaging belts that extend and retract log splitter? help? need to find parts center..

I don"t know where to get parts for it. I can tell you that this splitter more than likely came from L.W. Greenwoods in East Randolph, Vermont since it is our only local, for many miles, Ford dealer. Have you used your splitter much? any ideas as to it"s age?

Yeah, I have one of those. A screw drive log splitter with a 5 hp B&S, built by Ford. Were you ever able to find out any information on it? I'm looking at some oil seals that need replacing on one of the shafts. Any info would be much appreciated.

I just finished cutting the last of my wood for the season. I have to tell you that this old screw drive Ford log splitter is amazing! It has only a 5 hp briggs and stratton, but it never stalled no matter what I put through it. After I had split through about 3 cords of white and red oak, I noticed that some pieces were far too long to fit my wood stove. This log splitter cut them in half -- AGAINST THE GRAIN! Nice clean cut, too. Never saw a log splitter to that! I think I"ll be keepin" this one. If anyone is in CA and wants to see it, give me a haller.
