Just seeing if anyone knows a lot about a Ford 1700 tractor. I have a lady wanting to sell me a 1984 Ford 1700 and she says that it has a 3 cylinder diesel. All the specs that I have ran across say that they were only made up until 1982 and that the engine is a 2 cylinder. Anyone know any different?

Any help would be appreciated.

You are correct. If she has a 1984 3 cylinder, it could be a 1710. It's a better unit anyway. I'm not a fan of two cylinders (in blue).

She sent me a picture of it and it has 1700 on the hood. She said they are the original owners of the tractor and I think she may be mistaken on the number of cylinders.

I"m not that familiar with this model, would a 1710 have a hood that says 1700???

thanks for you help.

Only if someone put the wrong decal on it. Maybe she remembers the sale date incorrectly, or it sat around for a year or more before it got retailed.

That is pretty common. I wouldn't be surprised if it was on a lot, out on lease, used by the owner, etc for a couple of seasons and still sold by the dealer as "new." Get the S/N and check with the CNH dealer to confirm model year and build date to get to the bottom of it.
