Does anyone no how much and what kind of transmission fluid that a 1970 Ford 5000 with a 8 speed forward trans holds?

I thought this was answered the other day... It will hold about 5 gallons of Ford NewHolland 134D, or as they sell it today at NewHolland, Ambra 134G. Conversley you can go to Walmart, NAPA or various other places that sell oil and get a Universal Tractor Fluid, or TDH as it's generally known that meets the specs for Ford/NH 134D. I don't know the exact amount it holds on the tractors with a separate sump for the transmission, but the later tractors with common sump hold roughly 15 gallons, or 56 L to be exact. I'd buy one bucket for the transmission or 3 buckets if you plan to change everything. As with all old tractors and anything with a quick coupler set, it will pay you to have some oil on hand, so don't worry about having a few quarts extra... Find the respective level plugs on the transmission and rear axle and fill to those points. Don't worry about the amount of oil. Fill until it's full.
It's also worth noting that operators manuals that detail this information are readily available from any NewHolland dealer or NewHolland online at newholland.com/na. It would be a pittance of an investment to make if you don't have one now...
