Sorry, I used the wrong email address the first time

I am using a turn buckle to keep the draft control lever all the way down, if the lever is in any other position the bush hog will go all the way down. I am by-passing the system by taking the third member off and using the rear wheel of the bush hog. If I leave the third member on the bush hog wants to come all the way up every time the back wheel hits the ground. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On my 3000 the lever has to be up for position control. Down (in Draft) will do what you are describing. Move it up and see what happens.

It should raise or lower the 3 point arms somewhat leiner with the handle and stay there as long as the tractor is running. If your 3000 isn"t doing this something is wrong..

Thanks Bob. If I position the lever anywhere else the bush hog or any other tool will not go up

Sounds like it's time to do an internal linkage overhaul on the tractor. There's probably a worn cam follower, along with some sloppy linkage, and that's why the position control isn't working. Remove the lift cover and inspect what's worn, and also reseal the lift cylinder if it's been bypassing or dropping quickly. If you are going to do this yourself, then it would be an immense help to have a Ford service manual as opposed to an I&T manual. The Ford book will give a good description and operation section to give you a good understanding of the system, and probably the specific measurements for setting the linkage without using special tools. Good luck.
