I noticed yesterday that hydraulic fluid had leaked out of the hydraulic lift shaft assembly, specifically around the retainer that fits over the hole in the lift arm. I am looking at my IT Shop Manual as I am typing this and I don't see a gasket or anything that might have gone bad to cause this leak. Any ideas and/or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Phillip

Shouldn't be any oil that high up, maybe building up too much pressure inside rearend or dump filter is clogged and bypass is spraying oil inside.

Pernell,

I unscrewed the fill level plug on the side of the rear end housing and a stream of hydraulic oil came out. This does mean there was too much fluid in there, right? I should let it run out until it runs no more, correct?

I really appreciate your help.
Phillip

I, wouls start by loosening the drain plug on the bottom of the rear end housing first and let any water run out. If you tractor has been setting outside it could have a lot of water in it causing it to be overfilled.

You may need to change all the oil. You may have diesel in there. Mine overfilled this winter and leaked out of that shaft and the wheel & PTO. Diesel got in there.
