HI i have a farm and can only get out to it 2 to 4 times a year. I need to buy a tractor to mow the land. The grass is around 4ft tall and i am wondering if the ford 3000 will have enough power to the pto to mow it. I am also wondering if it is an all around good working tractor. If you know please tell me how easy it is to get parts for. the guy who is selling it is selling it for $3500 with a 5ft brush hog and i am wondering if that is a reasonable price. any help would be great thank you.

Like the others have said if it's in decent shape that's a good price for that tractor and yes it will have plenty of power for what you're wanting to use it for.
Good Luck, Lee

First off the 3000 is a very nice tractor and parts are readily available at a new holland dealer, online, or most mom and pop tractor dealers. It will mow 4' tall grass but it will work it if it is thick grass. It sounds like it is priced right, may be even cheap, if it is in good condition. Rubber aint cheap and neither are repairs. It is real hard to give an estimation on value with out giving the tractor a good look see. Most would suggest you stay away from the select-o-speed (SOS) transmission, it can be temperamental and parts can be a problem. Another problem with the 3000 is the two stage clutch. If the rear PTO does not stop spinning with the clutch depressed all the way then the PTO portion of the two stage clutch is worn out or out of adjustment. It usually just needs adjusted, which requires splitting the tractor in to. Not a hard job just takes a little time. The 3000 is listed at 38 rear PTO horsepower. Good luck.

A 3000 with 5' brushhog will have more than enough power for what you've described. It will cut off just about anything you can push over (ie. brush and small trees). $3500 is an excellent price if it is in half-decent shape. Here in central PA you would pay 5-6K just for the tractor.
