I traded my IH 300 Utility on Saturday for a Ford 4600. I am very excited about this new (to me) piece of equipment. I have a couple of questions, and was hoping someone might be able to help out.

First question: I noticed that the tranny oil has a milky look to it. I was told it was water mixed in it. Can someone verify this? Also, what type of fluid do I use in this (8 speed)?

Second question: My hour meter and tach works great, but I can not seem to get any electrical items to work (headlights, fuel gauge, dash lights). What would you think may be the cause?

Lastly, when I removed the tach from the console, to look for a loose wire, I noticed that there was a mouse nest inside the tractor. I pulled it out and threw it on my garage floor. My son eagerly watched me throw that straw nest on the floor. He said, daddy, there's a ring in that stuff. He picked it up and gave it to me for inspection. I read the inscription of "10K" on the back. I told him it was a gold ring, and for some reason, his eyes opened up wide, and he smiled really big, and then grabbed the ring back..... .and that was the last time I saw it. Maybe we can find out who it belonged to. It's a wedding band. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

A milky lube means there is water mixed with the oil either thru condensation or other leak. drain and refill with M2C-134D or equivalent. As far as your electrical problem, it could be a fuse or maybe a wire. I'm not sure how a 4600 is wired. One of the other guys on this board will be able to help you on that.
That mouse nest might have something to do with the electrical problem. They seem to like to chew on wires.

i just had the same electrical problem on my 4500 and it turned out the ignition switch was bad. the gauges and idiot lights work off the accesories side of the switch. when i replaced the switch everything worked again.check to see if you have power to the dashboard with a test light with the ignition switch on good luck
