NAA rear center housing casting numbers

My '53 NAA rear center housing has been cracked and repaired. I'm performing a bit of a restoration on the tractor now and am considering replacing the housing. I already have a replacement housing which appears to be in good condition, but I want to make sure it is the proper one for both function and restoration accuracy.

My parts book lists the housing part number as "NAA4025C". Both of the housings I have appear to read "NAA4024C". Does this make sense? Also, I'd like to know what the other numbers mean. Searching the archives revealed that they are probably date codes, but I haven't found a complete answer.

On the left side, the old housing reads "2SH F30" above the part number. Forward of this, by the flange that bolts to the transmission, there is a sideways "2". The new housing reads "1SH H26" and "1" in these respective positions.

On the right side, the old housing has a sideways "2" above a sideways "1" near the transmission. The new housing just has a sideways "1".

Any advice or direction would be helpful.

Frank

Just looked at my NAA and it also has the same number as your housings. Ford used and still does today a unique and very logical part numbering system consisting of a base part number and design iterations as well has to the orginal year and model it was released. The NAA refers to the 53/54 NAA models, the 4024 & 4025 are base part numbers and the "C" is the design iteration or design level. Many Unfinished as cast or forged parts had a different base part or design level number.
So too make a long saga short the 4024 is the as cast part number - not machined center section and the 4025 most likely refers to the finished machined assembly. The 4024 won't be listed in parts books since you can't buy it and can only buy the finished part
Where is your center section cracked? Mine had a crack that went from the bottom of one of the trumpet stud holes to nearly the center of the housing. I had a casting welder repair it. It has a slight puddle to where he repaired it and he siad not to grind it down for strength. It's on the bottom so you really can't see it anyway

That's interesting about the part numbers. Do you know what any of the other numbers mean? I'm assuming the numbers above the part number are some sort of date code. What could those sideways numbers toward the front of the housing mean?

The crack is in the bottom, between the left trumpet and the pto. I bought the tractor a couple months ago, and the previous owner is the one who had the repair done. It looks like it was welded and then covered with JB Weld to either seal it or smooth its appearance. With the purchase, I received a spare center housing that the seller had bought some time ago with the intention of swapping it out if he ever restored the tractor.

I have another tractor I use for work, so I have the luxury of taking my time and tinkering with the Jubilee. I've got a lot to learn, but these old Fords have become a bit of a hobby for me. The antique tractor community sure has a lot of great people! I thought I might make a winter project out of tearing apart the rear of the tractor, replacing the center housing in the process.
