Can anyone help me with the main spring adjustment on my Ford 3600. The spring is very loose, probably 1/2 to 3/4 inch of play. Lift seems to work just fine though.

Turn the end cap in until all the play goes away.

Thanks Bern, I tried that and it doesn't seen to want to get tight enough to put pressure on the spring. It's close but seems to be bottoming out. Could the previous owner have left it too loose for too long and damaged something internally?

Could be rust and/or corrosion on the threads preventing you from turning it in far enough. Try turning it counter-clockwise until it comes all the way out, inspect the threads and clean as needed, put some anti-seize lubricant back on the threads, and try over again.
