Ford 600 tractor clutch problem

I have a Ford 600, 4 speed transmission. Just recently when I first start up and try to put into gear, the gears grind and it seems that the clutch is not working. After grinding it into gear, it works okay from then on.

I topped off the transmission fluid. There is a clutch travel adjustment. I am wondering if I adjust it, will this solve my problem? If it was the clutch going bad, why do I only have the problem when I first start up?

Any ideas appreciated.

its not uncommon for the clutch plate to stick .. or glue itself to the flywheel.. usually due to moisture and swelling... especially if the tractor is not used often... and yes.. if you search here.. there are various ways to unstick it... so this is a fairly common problem where you have a good thick clutch plate and lots of setting up...
