When I heated the spline to take of the steering arm this summer the felt gasket burned. Now some heavy fluid seeps out of the seal area of the spline. Is there a place to add fluid on this steering box? If so what type of fluid? It is not a great leak but I'm concerned that it needs to be replenished time to time. Thanks jeff

Jeff; I rebuilt my steering box earlier this year. Seems to me that there is a 3/8NPT plug on the front side of the housing where I added the lubricant, 90W gear oil. You must have damaged the shaft seals with heat when you removed the pitman arm. These seals can be replaced (2 per side) by removing the cover. I think the seals are Chicago Rawhide 11055, or Ford D5UZ3591A.
