861 Carb Rebuild TSX662

Had my carb rebuilt and just got it back today. I know....Easy enough to do but I wanted to get it done the right way with all the right parts. Anyway, with all the things I read about on here with the in-line filter issues and the gravity system, why does the rebuilder want it put on knowing it might cause an issue? I DID install it to save any warranty issues if there was a problem with the rebuild. I guess it's just a CYA thing for him. Well, I put it all together and she fired right up. Idles nicely. Took her around the block a few times and so far so good. Only thing I noticed with the filter is it started out about 2/3 filled but when I got it home, it was nearly empty but still running. Looks like just a trickle of fuel going into the filter. Is that normal or should I get rid of it? Only a 90 day warranty so no big deal and carb seems fine. Now to find an all steel fuel line and get rid of the rubber one before that stirs things up for me! Thanks!

Looks nice...

Few things:
1. I am more than likely wrong (still just getting started in all this) but I thought the 8x1 used the 813 carb, might be a serial number thing, or replaced at some time, more than likely not an issue just something to look into... (I have a 821)

2. In reading here the general conclusion is that rubber hose, external filters are not good and impede fuel flow and are not required and cause trouble; also rubber lines near the ex manifold could cause a fire issue

3. Not sure about your filter but it looks upside down, they are intended to flow in one direction - usually there is an arrow, you might be correct, but it looks backward - this will limit the flow

Again, I am new, but this is what I understand...

1. The earliest 801/901's had a TSX-662. About a year later they came with a TSX-769. At SN 126525 they got a new manifold and the TSX-813.

t is installed in the correct flow direction & it is not important that it is not full.

looks fine
run the filter if you want, just change it often
I run steel, but rubber will work if it is good gas line rated
If your tank is clean, run the filter for the warranty period, and then
swap it out for a complete steel line setup.

If it was mine, I might...
Split a heater hose, or get some modern wiring loom protector
ribbed tubing and put it over the gas line where the throttle linkage will
be rubbing on it.
Attach a clip to the gen bracket to hold the filter/line stationary,
so it isn't flopping around
(especially since that filter doesn't have a hose retaining rib on the
ends.)

Sorry to say this but that looks like a fire waiting to happen. Fuel filter way way to close to the manifold bolt down spot which can/will melt that in line filter and then good chance of the whole tractor going up in flames
