I have a TO30 that for a while now will not fire in damp weather. I usually wait until after lunch when things dry out and it will fire right off and run like a champ. Just now getting some time to work on this and wanted to get some expert options on what may be causing this or how to start troubleshooting to pinpoint the problem.

thanks

Try checking the distributor cap for cracks, or if its not on tight it could get moisture in. Also I would check all spark plug wires. If they are old they may also have cracks in them. I have a 55 TO-35. They are a great tractor.

i would get new cap and wires.

then buy a spray material at auto parts store that seals ignition system.

that worked on an old ford car my neighbor had.

if someone turn on a water hose in the next county that old car would not start.

but a new cap and spraying all wires and ignition system with the sealant worked.

then the old car would start any morning.

Check , or replace cap .
Check , or replace coil wire .
Check , or replace coil .
You might wipr off the nose of the coil . It may be tracking out of the nose , and going to ground .
Oil and crud on the nose of the coil . and the center post of the cap is a good place for the hot spark to track to ground .
Good luck
