I went down to the local Massey dealer and was told that the lift cylinder for a TO-20 is no longer available from Massey. So I guess aftermarket it is because it seems I have no other choice. I have had it running with the side covers off and the only place I have ever found a leak is from the lift cylinder and it was a steady stream. I have adjusted the draft control spring with my 2 bottom plow attached....I've tried moving the quadrant and I even replaced the relief valve even though the old was ok. I do not know of anything else it could be besides the leak from the lift cylinder. [Reply]   [No Email]

E-mail me @ TE20ferguson at the domain AOL.com That said there are a couple of other items to examine. Where is the steady stream coming from... A crack in the lift cylinder or out the back edge. This may be hard to get the right angle on with out climbing under the trator with a turning PTO so put the cover on if you got one. If a crack then replacing the cylinder is in order. If coming out the back edge then the piston rings may be gone. To fix pull the lift cover: Steps: 1: disconnect the 3-point ( both link arms and the draft control spring at the rocker arm. 2: Remove the seat 3: gently pull the lift fork arms off the hydraulic pump"s control valve. (down in the oil) You may need to remove the control fork yoke if you have it (remove bolt from one side is fine) 4: remove bolts around the primiter of top cover note positions (there are 4 long, 3 medium and the rest short bolts I remember, may be a little different) The four bolts in the middle fwd of the seat hold the piston on. Do not remove these at this time. 5: Pull top cover up out of the diffy case be careful of the lift forks (help to have a friend, as it is heavy) You can now trouble shoot and replace what is needed. The piston can be pulled and new rings replaced if that is needed. If you need a new piston, cylinder etc. then e-mail me and I can hook you up better than the $92.00 new cost. So I put new rings on the piston, honed the cylinder and put new gaskets on the lift cylinder and also cleaned the pump and the sump out...put new gaskets through out the pump...reassembled it all and it didnt lift much better...so I took the lift cover off and did the NAA oring piston conversion and it lifted like it is supposed to for a while..but as I kept using it more and more it started lifting worse again so I figure the oring has torn from the used cylinder. John(UK) told me to get one from Massey because they are a heavier piece than the ones sold for a 9N but I found out they are obsolete from Massey now so I either have to use one from tisco or find a good used original one.   [Reply]  [No Email]
