I have a TO 20 tractor. Not really sure on year model. I'm having a problem with the 3 point system raising on its own while shredding,using the disc,etc. Can someone tell me where to srart looking or if something is out of adjustment. Thanks!!

| In addition to the Aus. version of position control for sale, there are at least two other versions for sale and there are plans for you to make your own, not very difficult. Red Rock Manufacturing sells a position control as does Zane Sherman, who calls his the Zane Thang. You can probably find both via Google or searching this site. The plans for making your own are readily available and Jeff(OH) has posted them here on occasion. All of these devices work, not to belittle Marlowe's method at all. Prices for the purchased versions run about $100. I built one using Jeff's plans for about $20 and I'm satisfied with it as well as a Zane Thang which I've owned for many years.

| As I remember it, you place the mower on blocks at the height you wish it to run ay, you then lower the liftllever and exted the top link til it places a compressive load on the top link and then hydraulics responds by incrementally lifting the mower slightly. you lock the top link in that position and go mow.
It"s basically a method of making the top link apply loads(the weight of the mower) to the hydraulic system that simulate increasing draft when the mower tries to drop and the control system responds by raisng the mower to hold the height.

| Lots of people use this method so I guess it works. Never tried it myself. I mow with a Ford 4610.

| Of course it works, exactly as it would with a plow. It is using the Draft Control system. It takes all the work out of using a Hog and lets the tractor do it.. If you need more info, email me and I will send it....John(UK)..fergusontractors@hotmail.com

| This tractor does not have position control so the lift lever needs to be below the neutral point on the quadrant for it to stay down in operation. if you are trying to get it to hold position while mowing, there is a procedure for adjusting the top link to help you do that. Look it up in the arhives. It"s called "Marlowe"s Method" by the old timers here since a former contributor first wrote it up. I think that John (UK) will also send you a copy vis email if you contact him.
