Ebay TO30 with interesting 'power' steering

There are over 100 threads about the Kosch steering if you want to look in the archives. I understand it is suppose to take some of the shock out of the steering wheel if you are running across the end furrows before getting them smoothed down so it is not really a power steering the way I understand it.

A friend of mine, got his hand in a corn picker, in 1960. He something like that on his IH "M". It steered a lot better than his "H". I think it had some kind of gear reduction built in. If I remember you had to "wind" the steering wheel, for a tight turn. Over all he liked it.

It appears to be some type of mechanical gear reduction device that allows you to use less effort to turn because of the torque multiplication inherent in reduction gearing. It will take more turns to go from "lock to lock" but the manual steering effort effort is less than a regular steering wheel.

Correct! It is a steering dampener. That is if it still is in a working condition.
if you desire "Power Steering" the cheap way, you can lengthen the steering arms on top of the spindles about two inches on each side and this will make your sterring easier to turn.

Have you done that with the steering arms, or seen it done? I wonder how much easier the steering feels and how much your turning radius will increase. Probably could calculate that...

Was thinking of getting it done before the Ford 881D came into my life.
It will decrease turning efort but diminishes the turning radius without brake sterring.
