has anyone ever taken one of these apart and tried to repair it? i have one that is stuck and has a inside rattle.
might it be worth the effort?

|     I took it apart using a screwdriver, also there is a small screw on back that has a cotton wick. I would think it should be oiled at different times. Probably the reason that it stop working. Hadn't got mine freed up yet. There same as a old speed-o-meter. I have rebuilt Model A's, maybe I can expertment with this one.

| i figgered the wick was for lubricant but could not determine what best to use. plain ole oil sounds good to me.
neat pics btw.

| looks to me that is the only way to do it. i found an old hand held can opener that might do the trick. will find out tomorrow or friday. i think this tach froze up because the bevel is rusted out at the top. not much but enough to let water in.

| Sparex # is 42754, $36 dealer cost. I have two I would like to fix. Probably from lack of lube is most problem. I can't turn mine with a short cable by hand.Keep us posted if you find a fix .

| I believe Sparex is making the logo Fergy tractormeter. I bet yours is the old style with gold(?) lettering on a black back ground.
You could buy the new meter and treansfer your old logo onto the new meter. Problem being prying open the case top under the glass and resealing it.

| i have two of them.
one is stuck at 1900 hrs
the other works at 3000 hrs
both have white lettering on black background.

| I took 1 apart that was entirely shot, you couldn't even read the face.I went to the YT parts site and printed out a pic of the face on 200 mag.On photo paper it looks almost real but fades out after time. What a tight wad!!

| The way is to do just a little bend at a time and continue around until the glass will finally fall out, Once you re install be aware that it will allow water to trickle in, I didn't consider the silicone but something needs to keep out the h20.
