I am begining to look- and feel, like Alastair Cook. I need a holiday!
I see you are nearly back on western hemisphere time zones John, soo I need to pick your brain once again. My last post ended up being a fluid thread- but I have a good hunch there is a giant air bubble in my TO35 hydraulic system. Any old indian tricks how to get it out of there. The powers steering in my Cockshutt took 2 weeks of driving figure 8's, is this a time and patience cure aswell? Thanks in advance, Tony
PS, my 2 latest Standard diesel visitors have the same theory...who ever did the injector nozzles before I bought the tractor might not have done a good job. I 'assumed' they were fine,,, maybe not....

Alastair Cooke, now that takes me back some-what, I have decided that I am getting old...
Air bubble is a bit unusual, because the Pump has a positive displacement, it should push out any air that there may be and it could only be in the Pump, no-where else would have an effect.
Watch the 3 point lifting something about 600lbs weight, it should rise smoothly and not jerk or have a tremor at all. If it does have a jerking motion this is a Cylinder off in the Pump and not supplying pressure, possibly due to a sticking valve set or broken spring on the valve set. You only need one Cylinder off to cause this, you could have more not working but it would really show up then. If a valve set is stuck or damaged in some way it will not allow the air/ oil to be pushed through the valves an held at the opposite side to the Pump, it will come back through the valve and stay in the same place as it can't be pushed out. The only thing you can do is remove the caps on the top of the Valve sets and check the springs and valves.The valve sets are non-return valves and if one is not shutting properly, this would cause your problem. You haven't actually said what it is doing other than you think it has air in the system. If it is different to what I am thinking, tell me a bit more about it. The injectors on the 23c have two holes, one injects directly into the Cylinder and the other injects into the indirect combustion chamber. This last hole often gets blocked and you don't get any fuel into the Combustion chamber.The nozzles need removing and the holes cleaning out and the pressure re-setting. Did you ever find out anymore about enlarging the combustion chamber entrance/exit which is supposed to dramatically improve cold starts?..John(UK)

The problem was posted twice last week. 24 July 10 something AM on this forum, and 25 July about 7AM on the Massey forum.
The lift only rises half way, it did work well... (I think/ believe it did) before I emptied the housing out to do some repairs further back. It has a slight shutter and goes no further no matter what I do with the quadrant, and there was a mention of O rings on the stand pipe, so I replaced them, no improvement. This is in a petrol 1955 TO35, so there is no filter in there. Wondering what I can do before having to take the cover off. I'd rather not tackle a job like that in this heat.... Alastair could have wrote quite a few interesting weather reports this summer... I slog around daydreaming of a Yorkshire breeze.....
