I am still trying to determine the cause of a ticking noise in the motor of my 1957 TO-35 Fergy gas tractor.
an old farm tractor mech: said that you can have a loose rod bearing and yet the motor will still hold good oil pressure. I would have thought that if you had a loose rod bearing then you would have low oil pressure. I am running shell rotella 15w40 oil so that might be the reason for my motor having higher oil pressure if it has a loose rod bearing.
He also said to pull back the rubber boot on each spark plug and short out that plug, if you have a loose rod bearing the tic noise should get louder.
at least I have a few things to try.
will change oil: install new oil filter and 30 weight oil, at least that weight oil will not mask any motor tic.
any other suggestions to try is appreciated.
the governor is working fine,
tic noise appears to be coming from the front of the motor and low down toward the crankshaft.
