I can't get my To 20 tractor to run, it fires but won't run. the plugs, points, rotor etc. are okay Battery is new, alternator is working. Any suggestions? The only thing I haven't checked is the fuel line.

The fuel is the first thing you should check. remove the drain plug from the bottom of the Carb and allow the fuel to run for 3 or 4 minutes if it will to see if it blocks up after a while. If there is no flow, remove the fuel line at the Carb and there is an elbow that screws into the Carb that the fuel line attaches too. remove the Elbow and blow it out the opposite way to which the fuel normally flows or you will block it permanently. There is a filter inside...John(UK)..fergusontractors@hotmal.com

The first thing I did was to disconnect the fuel line at the carb. The fuel flowed easily. I drained the fuel tank, took the fuel bowl off and cleaned it up. Put it all back together and still won't start. I checked the gap on the plugs and the points. They are good. Any other suggestions? Thanks

I said earlier about taking the elbow off the carburettor where the fuel line attaches and blow through it the wrong way. You didn't say if the fuel actually went into the carburettor or not only that the fuel ran out of the fuel line.
Is there a good spark? it should be bright BLUE, if it is feeble and yellow try changing the wires on the Coil and see if the spark is any better.John(UK)...fergusontractors@hotmail.com

Sorry, I did take the elbow loose and the filter was clear, it appears that a good flow of fuel is getting into the carbuerator. Are you saying to put new wires on the coil? Could the coil be weak?

No not saying fit new wires, change the wires from one terminal to the other. and see if the spark is any better or worse. The Coil could break down but usually the Engine will start and then cut out but sometimes they don't even start, only way is to try another Coil if you suspect it. If you have a spark, what colour is it:? it should be bright BLUE not feeble yellow. Have you tried a new condenser, they always give trouble, especially if they are more than a few months old.You can also get the Ignition switch failing, check that the supply to the Coil is good all the time, remove the wire from the Ignition switch to the Coil and check that there is power when you play with the switch..........John(UK)

Good News! I ran another check on the wiring. I found a broken connection from the coil to the battery terminal. Thanks for all your help. At least everything got changed, cleaned or checked out.

check and see if the tank has junk in it to clog cock-pit valve, then check carb fuel bowl if any junk in their,,may have to take carb apart to blow out passages,,,if it runs on spray,,[either, carb cleaner, etc] carb might need rebuilt plus the other sugestions
