I'm not having much luck on the MF forum so I thought I'd post here. I'm rebuilding a pump for the 3pt on my 202 which is the same as a 35.
Here is a link to the thread on the MF forum. What I need to know is which kit to buy.

And we are honoured (with a 'U') that you think so highly of the conisuers of early Fergusons... so if it takes another two weeks to get an answer, it's your fault- so don't have a cow! I guess now is when you need to post pics of the guts of the project to get people interested... I am going to take the pump etc out of the 35 diesel and put it all in the narrow 2135..... once the danger of frozen H2O is gone.... it was like august today - don't mater to me, man made global warming, natural climatic cycles, planet distroying solar flares, who cares! just keep it coming!!!!

Do I have to post the pics here too or do others who frequent this forum walk on the wild side like yourself?
Glad you spelled honour correctly, as my English Mum would remind me, "it's the English language you know". To which I would probably make some sarcastic remark about her queen.......I digress.
I've never had a zero response from the MF forum, I was just kind of taken aback when it happened. Now I'll admit that the topic has probably been "done to death" in previous posts but I don't find the search here all that helpful.
I added photos...........in colour (with a u) too!!

Thanks for the reply Tony, I kept tapping the monitor and shouting "is this thing on?" The wife thought I was losing it........well even more than I already have.

LOL! I had a friend who used to say when he'd get into a project like yours "Right said Fred. We'll just ave to drape a union jack over this lot and do it for queen and counrty'.... which I gathered started life as a dirty joke/ TV show?
I just went like 4 pages back and found your post from- ground hog's day??? Anyway, wow. That is a poster child for changing hydraulic oil. I sure hope mine doesn't look like that. I kinds doubt you will get a piston in a kit... the YT sales crew would know, but they don't sell into Canada? Nes pas? Ce domage.
Hey, call Fawcett's in St Mary's, they got me and Lyle out of a jam.... anyone who can get Lyle out of a jam deserves repeat business!

That's funny! There are a lot of good sayings that come from the UK.

As far as parts I am on the border and have ordered from YT in the past. I have things shipped to a friend in MN and pick them up from him.
The pump I am rebuilding is one I got from a former poster (Linster?) and it was out of another 202. Mine had likely never been used but I found it in a million (maybe two) pieces and making a heck of a racket in there. Probably got full of water and froze.

I removed it a couple of years ago and had the one I am rebuilding shipped to me a while later. From the pictures I see with the rebuild kits on here there looks to be pistons included but it would be nice to know for sure. If everything I need is in the kit for under $200 it's a no brainer but if I have to spend almost $200 on a kit then buy other parts it might start to approach new pump territory.

The 35 pump is essentially the same as the MF50 and MH50 and F40 also. However, I believe there were some subtle differences after certain serial numbers. Those differences may or may not affect you. Probably they are less likely to affect you if you replace the whole pump than if you are rebuilding yours.

Don't waste your time and money trying to rebuild that smashed Pump, get the later type which has a greater oil flow. You will need to buy the end plates in addition to the kit and it will be almost the same price as a new Pump. You need to prevent water getting into the system by fitting new rubber boots to the bottom of the gear change levers and also the one on the Draft Control Spring at the back of the seat. While you are fitting a Pump or repairing the old one you will need to re-set the Control Linkage inside. You may need to use the lower pressure Safety Valve, it will depend on the serial number if your tractor as the early ones were not as strong as the later types.
If you want the information how to do any of this, just email me and I will send it.

Thanks John, actually it's not the smashed pump I am rebuilding, I have another candidate which I believe is the newer style. Pictures of it are at the link listed above on the Massey Ferguson forum. I thought about posting them here but I didn't feel it was necessary to duplicate what is already there.

Well I spent some time yesterday on the Agco parts site and determined which rebuild kit I need and ordered it today. Hopefully it'll be here by the weekend so I can start putting it back together.........then take off the 3pt lift and see what that thing needs. As far as I know it's never been used so it's not going to be worn out, probably just very stiff and in need of disassembly, cleaning and lubrication.......I hope!
