Not sure of model of my tractor

I have an old hand me down tractor that I am planning to restore. I need to know the model and would like to know the year it was built. The id plate on the steering column is gone, but I did see the numbers Z120A-600 on the side of the block and HF TO-7006 stamped on the other side. Does that tell me anything? And is there a manual for this tractor? I need to re-wire everything and change the fly wheel.

The Z120 means it is a TO-20 built between 1948 and 1951 in Detroit Michigan. I believe that HF TO-7006 is a casting number for that particular part so it would mean nothing as far as the year. These tractors had very little change as everything was pretty much the same for all four years in the same model. So you know it is a Ferguson TO-20 so that is all the parts people should have to have. More questions? please reply, and keep us informed of how things are going. Thanks Richard

TE-20 Fergusons also have continental engines. To verify if you have a TE or a TO 20 the easiest way to check is see if a magnet will stick to the transmission. TE's have aluminum transmission housings, and the steering box and transmission housing are cast as one piece.

I failed to review my reply. I should have added the word "cover". The steering box and transmission housing cover are cast as a single unit.

You are correct mcohio but because he said the casting number was TO 7006 I did not believe it could be a TE, but it sure doesn't hurt to say something else to check. Richard

I just sent John (UK) an email. Guys, thank you all for the good information! I have realized this alternator converted tractor. So now I am unsure of the wiring again. Can anyone help?
