MF 35 Turf Special

What is the difference between the regular MF35 and the Turf special other than the paint colour?

Did the turf special have the two stage clutch as standard equipment?

Where are the pics??? My.... 135... is like the joke about the fellow that won a lot of money at a dog fight. He said 'to be honest, before I cut off his tail and painted him yellow, my dog was an alligator'. So, my 135- was- a yellow sawed off Turf 20. I wonder if some one has an outline of what the basic turf was suppose to have? But I have a feeling these were a special order tractor, each having only what the buyer wanted? Mine has power steering, live pto, hi low tranny, and a gas pedal. If it had headlights, they where on the side, not in the grill like most 135's.. I only met one turf- an old fashioned 35 hood, it- apparently- had live, but didn't have ground pto. You need to check it out with a fine tooth comb, and the letters before the numbers on the serial number plate? Someone on here has that info handy I'm sure. Now that you spilled the beans... please post the pics...

I looked back through the models on FENA and couldn't find a "turf special".Maybe it's got a higher PTO gear speed. That would be nice to have.

I think- this model name started in the MF years, actually just before the 135's came out? or about that time. So cariboo has a line on a 'late model' compare to what we are used to dealing with... that's why I am waiting for his pics...

All I have seen is this picture. Just for you Tony.

That's a mighty nice back 40 or 4000 you got there, let us know what all the differences are with that model.

Gee thanks... I just drooled all over the keyboard. It has the 3 point, so got to have the pump, pto shaft etc. I take it this isn't your garage? A dead give away is the serial number tag.. the letters stamped there, and the pto lever- what the positions say, if they installed a cover that said 'engine, neutral, ground... then it is the same guts as a 35 or 135.. if it said 'neutral / pto' only, then it will be a single clutch, or so I figured over the years anyway. I bet this is the last of the breed, in the next year or two they had the squared off 135 sheetmetal.... I didn't think jewels like this still existed in BC...wow... why don't you post this on the massey forum too, there are a couple guys on there that might tell you alot from this one pic... so is baby coming home???

Just to make it clear, this is NOT my tractor,(yet) and the picture was taken 200 miles from here.

I am away to Glasgow for a couple of weeks and then will go and check it out.

I'll give you details then.

I have info for a 2135 turf special but I think the 35 turf special has similar features. Turf specials were based more on an industrial tractor but had a few unique features. It may have a manual shuttle transmission, it has a wider stance for lower center of gravity, smaller diameter turf tires, much faster road gear and maybe a foot throttle. It competed with the Ford LCG tractors. I think it would have a live PTO(2 stage clutch) and everything else would be the same as a regular 35.

I've got a MF35 Turf Special built in 1963. It's got the double clutch, power steering, no ground speed PTO, and a gas pedal. Other than the wide stance and low height, there are no major differences.
