Just drug home this "smokin" to35 with live pto and a bushhog for $1225. Getting ready to have some fun rebuilding it as this gal likes to smoke and there's oil running down from spark holes. All cyl's have 100 to 110 pressure and the good news is no signs of water in oil or inside oil cap.I think it's a good project and it came with a umbrella stand. I forget who said pto cover has ground on it but mine does, the lift works good too!!

Know wonder why you have good compression theres oil on them rings lol. Thats a great find and it didn't take you long to keep your name.

Does it smoke at high rpm under load. If it only smokes a lot at idle then with those compression numbers, I"d expect the valve guides and seals are worn

I didn't think to rev it up but i'll have to see. I thought that with not so bad compression #'s it was the oil rings gone.Did you notice the oil out the cyl holes?

With that much oil pushing out of spark plug holes that makes me think oil rings. If it clears up after it warms up some then it could be intake seals or a combination but it should only have about 20lbs.of oil pressure so you won't think there be exssive oil on valves

Yesterday at auction TEF went for $1600, good nick. The belt pulley included. Aud $1.08=US1. so they are around the same park.

It could be a loss of oil control but if that"s the case it will do it across the power range.
If it just occurs at idle and off idle and then clears up, it"s valve guides and stem seals. Check it out. You may only have to do the head. What"s the oil pressure look like at hot idle?

Hey trac, glad you noticed i won't have to change my handle and jerry the oil pressure is around 15 hot.Looks like an oil pump rebuild too, that would be nice to get by with just the head, I plan to pull the head and remove pistons then see what all i need.

Jerry I went out this morning backing it out to pressure wash off the grease remover and after reving, it really kept up bellowing blue, that cooked on oil don't won't to come off block!! Suppose it's gonna take a full inspection, AFTER making sure head and then rings are up to snuff.#2 had one of those oil adapter type extenders on the plug, I never get off that lite to come out with just a valve job, but I need to scrimp on this one as the last wore me out!!Keep my steps posted an i bet these bearing ain't going in upside down, this time it's the center main that oils top end. See I'm a learning!!

2tractors,
I bought its twin brother last summer, a 1961 Deluxe with real good rubber on it at a dealer for $2350 and thought I got a pretty good deal. After I fixed the really noisy manifold to exhaust flange gasket, and the starter, I hear this nice little kanock at cyl number 2 when it idles. I smokes just a little at start up and runs great but I think I have the same fate as you except for $1100 more than you. And no bush hog!! I think I'll go to bed and cry myself to sleep. LOL

Don't worry, the back half is worth what you paid for it. I completely rebuilt a 30 last year, and into a 35 diesel as we speak. Get some reading material on this model, the parts are available on the left column from just north of you, but it may help to have an extra gear head brain around... preferably one with a good back. If you intend to do any farming at all, don't go swapping this one off, until you get another equal to it, these are head and shoulders above your 20's and 30's... great fine!
