Steering Box Seals TO-30

Hey all, I am in the process of rebuilding the steering gear box and replacing the bushings and outer dust seals. Can anyone tell me how to remove the old seals. They seem to be pressed in pretty tight and I actually screwed one side up (gonna replace so its no biggie) trying to pop it out. Do I need to replace the bushings inside each side also or only if there is alot of wobble? Thanks in advance.

I just took a screwdriver and popped the seals out with no problem. If there is a lot of play the bushings should be replaced. You are right replacing anyway so no biggie.

My seals had been installed with some sort of sealant that forced me to tear the old seals up to remove them. The box is pretty thin so don"t put too much force on it.

You may already have parts, but I believe you can get a kit of bushings and seals from Nolt's Equipment in PA (1-717-776-6242).

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have pulled and pryed and they are really stuck. Gonna try a bit of heat next ever so carefully around the edges to see if they get unstuck. I love working on these old tractors. Nothing ever really complicated, just basic knowledge. And the best part. NO DARN COMPUTERS..Yeah!
