Changing the fan belt?

Well my fan belt broke today, normally not a big deal, right? On my tea 20 with the dearborn 19-61 loader mounted & the Hyd pump mounted on the front to the crank shaft, how much do I need to undo to get the belt replaced,it goes without saying that I'm looking for the easiest way to do this or a "how to" do this...Thanks

Not sure about the TEA but on the TO 30 I just have to loosen the adjusting bolt push generator towards motor, remove belt from generator pulley and around fan blade and reinstall new fan belt. Of course I know with the loader on it will cause more problems than what I just explained. Richard

You will have to unhook the hydraulic pump shaft from the crankshaft pulley, and slide it forward the thickness or width of the belt. Slip the belt past it and then put the shaft back. The belt will go past the fan with some care, and it might be a good idea to get the belt on the water pump pulley before getting it past the hydraulic pump shaft.

I got the unit apart enough to change the belt. Now I'm having trouble finding the correct size belt. Does anyone know a maker and size for me? I've tried 5 different ones now & either to short or tooo long. The ones that seemed too short at first even turned out to be too long,to explain: when belt is put over all the pulleys [u:13af021f08][b:13af021f08]except[/b:13af021f08][/u:13af021f08] the alternator the belt wont easily go over the alternator pulley, even though the alternator adjustment is all the way up. You have to pry & pull to get the belt over the alternator pulley, then when I drop the alternator to put tension on the belt, the belt is way to long. It almost seems like the ALT pulley is too deep or thick? I dont get why these belts dont work as the one that worn out & broke seemed to work okay till then? In this photo it shows the Alt adjustment all the way out so you would think a little shorter belt would work?

I see it's converted from generator to altenator. You may need to go to a more straight adjustment arm. I think that may give you a bit more outward adjustment after getting a belt that fits just over the pully. You might try flipping the adjustment bar over but that may make it more vunerable to damage from the field. Wally

Is the alternator pulley profile the same profile as the water pump and crank shaft pulley profiules? Some of the universal alternator conversion kits have the wrong pulley for the TEA20 fan belt.

Nice Fergy BTW!

f by profile you mean the width, they are all 3/4 of an inch wide.

Just an update: I have done the gamit with dayco belts,I've tried 4 belts to date, all are either toooooo short or just a little too long.

does the plate behind the alternator have a long pivot bolt thru it? try swinging that plate away from the engine.
