TO 30 clutch adjustment

Last time I used the tractor the clutch slipped a little on steep grades(mowing). Owners manual explains in very little detail on how to adjust the clutch. There is a hole in the end of the shaft that the clutch pedal is attached to and a bolt to loosen to adjust the pedal. Do I need to loosen the bolt and put a bar through the hole and turn the shaft? If so which way clockwise or counter clockwise? Or do I just loosen the bolt and turn the pedal? I appreciate any and all comments as we use the tractor four or five times a week for a number of chores. Don't want to have to replace the clutch because of lack of maintenance.

You should adjust the clutch so there is 3/8" clearance between the clutch pedal arm and where it hits the foot peg. You have to know where it is then decide which way to turn it. Richard

Slacken the clamp bolt just enough that the shaft will turn and yet prevent the pedal from dropping, too slack and the pedal will drop, you don't want it so slack. Turn the shaft clockwise to take up ALL the play while you hold the pedal as high as it will go, now strike the pedal with a wrench lightly (depends on how tight the clamp is) until you have 3/8" clearance under the foot rest, (where the Radius rod attaches, this is the lowest part of the pedal), then just tighten the clamp again. This clearance is critical on any tractor that has a live-drive or Dual Clutch...John
