Oil pressure, finally!

After replacing the oil filter adapter on the engine, I started it up, and I had oil pressure. In fact, I pinned the needle on the gauge. It reads a max of 60, and I maxed it out. I backed out the relief valve, and it still goes to the max. So, I either have a stuck relief valve, or a defective gauge. Either way, I have oil pressure.

You don't say what engine you are working on but coming from Canada I would think that you have a TEA, the oil pressure on these engines should be between 40 and 60psi, if your gauge only reads to 60 then it has the wrong gauge fitted, that one is for a TE20 with a Continental engine, they do have a lower pressure. When the engine has run a little you should find that the pressure will drop slightly and you may need to increase it a little...wait and see anyway....John

What should the gauge read up to? The one on the tractor only reads up to 60.

I picked up another one that goes up to 100. I'll give that a try. The other possibility is a stuck relief valve.
