Chain and wedge assembly 3 point

I am busy restoring the family Ferguson TEA 20-85 purchased new in 1953. There was once a light chain with an oval tag which fastened to the lift handle stop and then to the 3 point lower lift arm. It was to remind the operator not to lift the system when the PTO was in use. Can anyone tell me what it said on the oval tag half way along the chain?( page 16 operators book) Does anyone have such a thing kicking around? I last saw ours in a box in the old barn maybe 30 years ago. Should have saved it. dp

That chain was used when you had a drawbar on the lift arms and was a bad design as a safety devise. You are right it was to remind the operator not to raise the lift when pulling.

I thing it said something like (do not raise life when using the drawbar)....

They come up every so often and I may know where one is... I was offered one 2 years ago. I am sure the guy still has it. I think he wanted $60.00 which to me seemed steep for a chain and a stampped brass tag.

Went out and did a google search on them and low and behold this web site carries them in the merchandize section...

Chain - CHAIN, Fixed drawbar safety chain assy, EXACT OF ORIGINAL. FOR tractors: 9N, 2N, 8N, Jubilee, NAA (1939-1954). (Part No: 9N5370)

Many Thanks, Jeff oh I think I will try for the new one, I agree $60 is a little steep for something the old man threw away in disgust. I am also pretty sure the lift does not have enough grunt to bend the braces when the drawbar is in place, but I am not going to try it either. I got my butt kicked often enough for abusing that piece of machinery without wrecking it now.

That is probally why they are $60.00.... "The old man threw away in disgust" And thus there are few of them around and purest want them for a compleat show tractor.

I don t know what style of stays you use, but I can guarantee that I bent the daylights out of a set when I was about 9 years old and the TO 20 didn t even grunt! The best part was the hired hand took the blame because Dad told him to keep me of of the Fergie!
