Recently got an TO 30 s/n:88479 (1952),eng.Z129. Ad. stated"starter inop". Sent it for repair/overhaul. Came back, stating "Arm. shaft bent non-repairable".
With all the discussions ref. to bent shafts related to 'wrong starter' as the cause for failure, I need the Forum's advise for sourse of the CORRECT item. I don't need the hassle of "buy and try" 'till it fits.
Eng. is original, as is the ring gear (teeth like new).Tractor converted to 12V(as purchased).
I'm assuming this starter is unfit as an 'core'.

TIA for ya responce, Al.

You might contact Mac Tractor Parts at 1-800-882-4742. They should be able to find you the correct starter. They are very knowledgable about Ferguson tractors and can be trusted.

A bent armature is a problem for sure, but they can be had. My local electrical repair shop, Automotive Manufacturers Inc., in Richmond, Va, can get them. And they can repair the starter for you also.

TO 20, 30, and 35 6 volt use Delco Remy
#1109457 starter,1881818 armature, and A792 drive.

To 35 12 volt uses 1107654 starter,1929792 armature,and A792 drive.

Same drive for 6 or 12 volt.

For: Paul,Phil,Ron andDuner Thanks a bunch for ya splindid info/advise.

Now all I need is a chunck of that "bail-out".However, by the time that happens; "Hand Cranks" will be the new fad, NASA will have designed a Gate that doesn't 'drag'.

Hey, I'm not complainin' The Good Lord's been very kind;I have no money, so I have no 'finance' concerns/worries.
The little bit of 'bussiness' I have , everybody 'tends to it.

Thanks all, Al.
