TO 30 Question

I was moving some dirt around with my 53 TO 30 and heard an awful clanking noise from the engine. I shut it down as fast as I could and looked for loose belts or parts but didn't see any. I tried to restart and only got a clicking noise from the starter. My dad and I tried to turn the fan blade and pulley but it would only go a little ways before it was hitting something inside. I took the oil pan cover off and found a couple of pieces of something. Hopefully someone can identify what I found and some possible solutions. This is my first post so hopefully I do this right.

My guess right off is that is the part that holds the engine oil seal on. Now to wait and find out what the guys that really know say it is. Richard

you know iv got the same tractor but on mine at the bottom of the oil pan iv got two hole and it kinda looks like a carter pin hangin out of the bottom is that normal?

Are you sure the pin is handing from the OIL pan?
There should be one hanging from the bottom of the transmision--this is to vibrate and keep the hole clear. The reason for the hole is to allow any oil that slips past the rear engine seal to drain OUT of transmission instead of filling up and getting clutch and pressure plate oily.
I'm thinking a drain hole in the engine pan would be a bad thing. Ha ha
