[b:1b51b81b83]Doc.[/b:1b51b81b83] I have an old fold down carry all / front push bar / trailer tow bar for my TEA20, not currently installed. It mounts onto the front axle.

It is very useful for carrying light loads or weights to counterbalance the tractor, particularly with the crane (or your PHD) on the back.

Happy to send you photos, dimensions etc.

Here is a photo of the front carry-all folded down, a couple of years ago before I started the restoration:

Fred, I checked out that site. Very nice but no close ups of any bumper.

Bob, Nice front carry-all. What does it attach to. Are brackets welded to the lower front of the tractor or are existing bolts used?

The bumper I'd seen in the past was just a plain bumper that partially arced around the front with a hole for the starter crank handle.

It looked similar to those found on the small airport vehicles shunting trailers with suitcases about.

I don't know if it was bolted to the engine or front axle/radiator mount.

It could have been a factory accessory or just something homebuilt.

A very handy thing to protect the tin front end.

[b:7992abcd4a]Doc.[/b:7992abcd4a] Nope. That carry all is self contained and only bolts to the front axle with two clamps.

I'll photograph the carry all and send you the photos if your email is "open". If you live in the SE corner I could drop it off to you to copy next time I come to Brisvegas.

My Farnsworth's reference book refers to a normal car type bumper bar as a Ferguson option in the UK and that double wrap around type bumper in the US. Someone is selling the bumpers on EBay in the US - do a search and you will find the EBay photos.

My carry all and all the bumpers available bolt only to the front axle, not the tractor body. My only concern with my carry all is that if it is used continually with weight on it - e.g. as a counter weight - I suspect it may escallate the front axle pivot pin and bush wear.

I'll see if I can get the photos to you after work today.

Doc

Sorry the photos are not very good. The carry all is stuck in the down position due to a bent hinge pipe.

If you are interested in the design, I can take better photos and dimensions, or lend it to you to copy.

Bob,

Mate that was very nice of you to photograph all that.

I can now see how it was attached.

However, as you previously noted, there is a lot of extra force on the pivot pin? That's a lot of weight levering from those clamp conections, especially when the carry-all is loaded!

Flicking throught Ford N series photos on this site I found a large bumper which seems to attached to the same point as your front carry-all, albeit with a bolt arrangement.

Well I guess it can't be too bad. The tractors are still here 50 years on!

Resurrecting this post..

Aussie doc, did you ever build one?
i am looking into it at present. I like the look of the one above but cannot get my head around the fold down mechanism..

I am also looking at cargo carries, and maybe modifying something to make one up, but i think the above carryall of bobs is the best.
